Please read our Dahlia Tuber Sale Policies in full before making a purchase.
We’ve put these together to answer common questions, address concerns, offer guidance and explain the steps we take to ensure you receive the highest quality tubers and the best customer service.
At checkout, you’ll be asked to confirm that you’ve read and agree to these policies. By checking the box, you’re letting us know you understand and accept them, and that you’re aware they will be applied consistently to all customers.
Our final 2025 Dahlia Tuber sale will begin on Wednesday, 11 September at 7pm AEST. This maybe our only online tuber sale for the 2025 year, and the website will not be restocked after this. If we have a presale before this, we will email our mailing list. If we change this date, we will also email the newsletter.
EMAIL: We will be sending out an email prior to the sale and update[s] until the sale has ended. Newsletter subscribers will be the first to know about tuber sale updates, varieties, etc. If you would like to receive these emails, sign up for our newsletter and make sure that Transition Farm, peter@transitionfarm.com and info@transitionfarm.com are in your preferred senders list. We are not responsible for emails that are not received due to incorrect address, server error, spam folders or any other reason.
INVENTORY: All varieties will show as “Sold Out” prior to the sale. The website will be taken down at least six hours prior to the sale, so that we can enter inventory and will reload automatically at 7pm AEST when the sale begins. You will not need a password to shop the sale.
POSTAGE: To ensure your tubers arrive to you in the same condition they leave our farm, we will send tubers EXPRESS POST with AUSTRALIAN POST. You will be emailed a tracking number when the order has been submitted to Australian Post. It is your responsibility to provide a correct email address AND to track your parcel and ensure it is collected in a timely fashion. Confirmation of delivery to your address by Australia Post is receipt of your tuber order.
Transition Farm is not responsible for parcels gone missing due to an incorrect address on the order. If you notice a mistake before the parcel is sent, please send an email immediately in hopes that we can correct it - Thank you!
The cost of postage is outlined below:
1-2 tubers: $ UPCOMING
3-15 tubers: $UPCOMING
16-40 tubers: $UPCOMING
40+ tubers: $UPCOMING
SHIPPING: Dahlia tubers will be shipped via Australia Post EXPRESS service to VIC, NSW, SA and QLD ONLY. Due to quarantine restrictions, we are unable to ship tubers to TAS, WA and NT. We do not send tubers internationally nor to any islands outside of VIC, NSW, SA and QLD.
Tuber shipment will begin in late September/early October (when the eyes have woken) and finish by early-mid November. We cannot fulfill early shipping requests. We expect shipping of all orders made in the pre-sale and initial days of the final sale to be completed by early October. Orders will continue to be filled as received until the stock is sold out and/or the sale ends. You will receive a notification once the order ships with a tracking number. We are unable to guarantee an arrival time due to Australia Post being unable to provide one. Please track your order with the tracking number provided in your fulfilment email.
SHIPPING ISSUES: Once your order has been shipped and you have received an email with tracking information, we cannot be held responsible for any mishandling, delays, or lost packages caused by Australia Post. If your package is lost, damaged, or stolen in transit, you will need to file a claim directly with Australia Post. We are unable to replace or refund orders affected by carrier-related issues, but we recommend reaching out to Australia Post promptly to initiate the claims process. Your tracking/reference number is listed in your fulfilment email.
CART: An item placed in your cart does not mean that item is reserved. Your order is only confirmed once you checkout and receive an order confirmation number and email. Please be aware that if you are trying to purchase many different varieties some may sell out before you are able to checkout. We understand the frustration of missing out on a variety that you were hoping to purchase. Some customers have suggested completing several orders. If you do that, we cannot guarantee the ability to combine the orders. Ultimately, we are a small family business doing the best with the stock and time that we have.
COMBINING ORDERS: We are not able to combine orders at this time.
LIMITS PER HOUSEHOLD: We may limit the purchase of some of the very highly sought after varieties. This is in order to give the opportunity to grow these special varieties to as many growers as we can. Please be honest and fair, in respecting this policy. Any orders above the indicated limit or multiples to the same household will be fully cancelled, resulting in a loss of the order in its entirety.
PAYMENT: We accept most major credit cards, pay pal and Apple Pay. For quick checkout here are our best tips:
- Have your card information saved on your device so that your card details are auto filled at checkout rather than having to type it in. ENSURE YOUR ADDRESS IS CORRECT TOO! Transition Farm is not responsible for incorrect card information NOR incorrect address.
- If you have asked for two step verification, this can slow down your order being finalised.
REFUND POLICY:
Please inspect your Dahlia tubers immediately when they arrive. All refund requests must occur within 7 days of receipt of the tuber. If you feel there is a problem with a tuber, please email info@transitinfarm.com and provide the following:
Your order confirmation number;
Clear, focused photos of the tuber in question including Transition Farm stamp (multiple angles help);
A brief description of the issue.
PLEASE NOTE: info@transitionfarm.com is the ONLY EMAIL ADDRESS to respond to dahlia tuber issues. We will NOT respond to any comment nor direct message through social media nor any other email address. We are trying to ensure you have read the refund policy and are submitting the correct information.
All tubers are inspected 2-3 times by at least two different people to ensure there is at least 1 viable “eye”. You might not be able to see the eye but trust us, we did. Some eyes take a few weeks to “wake up” and begin sprouting - some are very obvious. EACH VARIETY IS UNIQUE!
Once the tubers leave our farm, we entrust them to your tender, loving, attentive care. We are no longer responsible for loss due to:
incorrect storage conditions upon receipt (store tubers in a cool dry location until planting time, out of direct sun, heat or freezing temperatures)
weather conditions
pest/critter damage
By purchasing TRANSITION FARM Dahlia tubers, you are agreeing to this Refund Policy.
CHANGE OF MIND: We do not offer a refund or returns on any item due to change of mind. Please take your time to browse our offerings early so that you are confident with your purchase.
DAHLIA VIRUS: According to the American Dahlia Society's virus research, an average of 87% of healthy, asymptomatic dahlia plants carry at least one dormant virus. Unfortunately, it is a common thing in the dahlia world, and we do our best to keep our plants healthy and virus free. On our farm, we are vigilant about examining plants for viruses and culling any that look diseased. Tools are cleaned and sanitized between cuts and during the dividing process. Additionally, we do not open our fields for outside harvesting.
The Dahlia Society of Australia released a statement regarding the topic of dahlia virus in Australia in January 2025. This is a subject all growers of dahlias are concerned about particularly the uncertainty of the right action to take. We sincerely thank the society and, in particular, Graeme Davis, for their [his] extensive research and consultation with respected growers and scientist in creating this statement.

DSA STATEMENT ON VIRUS IN DAHLIAS
Despite our vigilance at Transition Farm, we do not test every plant for viruses. Because of this, we cannot guarantee for 100% certainty that there is no dormant virus within tubers. Buyers buy at their own risk knowing and understanding this information. We do not refund for plants displaying viruses as plants can be grown in varying environments that affect the tuber after it is planted. Please also be advised that unless a plant has been officially tested, there are many outside factors that contribute to virus-like symptoms such as stunted growth, curled leaves, spots, and discoloration.
LIMIT OF LIABILITY: As mentioned above, the buyer assumes all risk when buying tubers. Once the tuber is past the 7 day mark and/or placed in the ground, TRANSITION FARM can not be held responsible for outside factors that contribute to the health and vigor of the plant. Refunds will not be offered after the 7 day grace period unless the tuber does not meet our true variety guarantee, and will not exceed the cost of the tubers themselves. Transition Farm is not required to issue a refund, and is not liable for any monetary value beyond the value of the purchased tubers.
VARIETIES WITH KNOWN PRIVATE BREEDERS: Transition Farm values breeding efforts - on any and all scale! We are making efforts to contact identified dahlia breeders and offer $1/tuber back to their breeding program. If you are a dahlia breeder and one of your varieties is in our catalogue, please reach out via email info@transitionfarm.com. We will be sending royalty contributions within 30 days of our final dahlia tuber sale.
ADDITIONALLY: We ask you to please remember that we are Peter and Robin who run our small farm business always trying to ensure a quality product and your success growing it. Ultimately, it is us addressing all concerns. We have tried up to this point to ensure a high quality product and great service. So if you do have an issue, please trust that we will address it and that the best outcome for both of us can be achieved through mutual respect and consideration.
We do maintain the right to cancel any order and refuse service.
