Daucus carota

Seed Available April 2025

Carrot ‘Paris Market Atlas’ is an improved variety of the 19th century French heirloom, an early Parisian Market-type carrot which feature the traditional short, round roots. Smooth, bite-size and instantly recognisable, this very flavoursome variety has a deep-crisp refreshing taste and better uniformity.

Paris Market Atlas is ideal for growing in shallow soils and is easily grown in containers or grow bags, it is also useful for heavy clay soils where other carrots fail. For perfectly round carrots, keep the plants evenly irrigated, as dry conditions may cause the roots to stretch in search of moisture.

Fast to mature it produces small, tender-cored 2.5cm (1in) roots that are bright red-orange and have good carrot flavour.
55-70 days to maturity.

DIRECT SEED (recommended) - Sow carrots when soil temperature is 18°C or above. Work soil well prior to planting as a softer soil allows roots to develop uniformly. Plant seeds 4-5mm deep in rows 20-25cm apart. Cover seed lightly.
KEEP MOIST and do not let it dry out. Thin seedlings to 2.5-5cm. Keep area free of weeds

NOTE - Many growers plant multiple successions of carrot during a season to ensure continuous harvest. Moisture levels must be consistent from the time of planting and is essential for good root formation, texture and flavor.
